CJB Industries
Production data platform and generative AI for batch sheets
A 200-person chemical maker saw gains from data and quality systems first; its generative AI step was still in training
Problem
CJB Industries, a contract chemical manufacturer with about 200 employees and three plants in Valdosta, Georgia, formulates and packages products for more than 200 agricultural and pest control customers. Each week staff converted customers' non-standard batch sheets into the company's format by hand, and process data was not stored in a way that allowed real-time analysis.
Approach
Starting in 2022 with the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership at Georgia Tech, part of the federal MEP network, a CJB process engineer chose and installed the dataPARC data historian across two plants and adopted a new quality management system after a three-day assessment. The company then began testing generative AI with Vieaura, a startup from Georgia Tech's Advanced Technology Development Center, to convert customer batch sheets into a standard format automatically, with digital batch-sheet workflows planned next.
Results
Takeaway
The reported savings came from data infrastructure and quality management installed before the AI work; no figure was attributed to the generative AI pilot. Publicly funded extension services helped the small manufacturer choose and install systems, and the AI work used data from those earlier projects.

CJB worked with Georgia MEP from 2022, investing $300,000 in dataPARC across two plants and adopting a new quality management system after an assessment. It then tested generative AI with startup Vieaura to standardize customer batch sheets. NIST reported $30,000 a month saved by preventing a chiller breakdown, a 51% lower price of non-conformance and a 20% capacity increase. The AI software was still in training.
CJB moved from data collection to dataPARC-based real-time monitoring. In 2026 it listed digital packaging and manufacturing sheets and AI-driven verification as work in progress. The company gave no figures for the AI work.
