Mailings: AI conversion of letters to braille, audio and large print
RNIB cuts document conversion from up to two weeks to as little as three hours
Problem
Converting documents into braille, audio, large print and Welsh needed custom code and manual fixes. This took a lot of staff time.
Approach
RNIB built Mailings on Azure AI Document Intelligence, which extracts content from PDFs and scans. Azure AI Speech and Neural Voice produce audio. An RNIB employee reviews each conversion before it goes to publishing and braille embossing.
