Stripe
Claude Code rollout to engineers
Stripe has Claude migrate 10,000 lines of Scala to Java in four days against a ten-week estimate
Problem
Stripe had enabled six coding assistants and wanted one tool that engineers could use without setup, with its supply-chain security concerns met.
Approach
The developer infrastructure team preinstalled Claude Code for 1,370 engineers. After two to three months of testing with Anthropic it built a signed enterprise binary that avoids the npm dependency chain. Talks, training and in-tool hints taught engineers to treat the assistant like a new colleague who needs context.
Results
Takeaway
Preconfigured tools and a security review removed the barriers to company-wide use. Teams needed to teach engineers to give the assistant context.
