Problem

Writing medical notes added administrative work to patient visits. Cleveland Clinic wanted clinicians to spend more of that time interacting with patients.

Approach

Cleveland Clinic evaluated AI documentation systems during 2024 and selected Ambience for a phased rollout to US ambulatory clinicians in 2025. The software recorded appointments and drafted notes and patient summaries. Providers had to review and approve each note, and patients could decline recording.

Results

more than 80specialties and subspecialties included in the 2024 evaluation, according to Cleveland ClinicCompany's own claim[1]

Takeaway

Clinicians reported less burnout during the pilot, but Cleveland Clinic did not disclose a measured reduction in documentation time.
