Getlink
Predictive detection of rolling-stock brake faults
Getlink's brake-fault algorithm detected about 20 potential maintenance situations
Problem
Brake faults could immobilize Eurotunnel rolling stock and create additional maintenance work. Getlink wanted earlier warnings to improve train availability.
Approach
Getlink began working with Ekimetrics in 2023 on predictive maintenance. Its first production application, launched in January 2024, detected tightly applied brakes. Getlink reported detecting about 20 situations that could have led to brake-related maintenance and responding quickly to improve rolling-stock availability.
Results
Takeaway
Detected situations provided an operational result. They did not establish how much money the system saved.
