Claude Code security review and remediation

Anthropic reported Alberta scanned 466 million lines of government code in 20 hours

Problem

Alberta maintained aging government applications containing sensitive information. Much of the code had never received a systematic security review.

Approach

The Ministry of Technology and Innovation used Claude Code with Opus and Sonnet models to inspect repositories. A rules engine flagged patterns before AI reviewed the findings and supplied file references. Claude also generated patches and tests, which government engineers reviewed before release. The team established continuing security-review agents.

Results

466 millionlines of code assessed in 20 hours, according to AnthropicVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

The reported duration covered the code assessment. Patches still required engineering review before deployment.
