AI video analysis of site CCTV for safety and quality
Hyundai E&C reported in 2026 that it trained its CCTV safety AI on more than 2 million site data items
Problem
Hyundai E&C wanted to detect hazardous situations in construction-site CCTV footage.
Approach
In December 2022 the company said it had built a site CCTV analysis system with an AI partner. It was trained on more than about 2 million objects such as equipment, workers, sparks and smoke, partly using synthetic fire footage. The system detects equipment coming too close to signal workers, tells welding sparks from real fire risk and flags dangerous body poses. A 2026 Money Today report says it also flags missing helmets and harnesses and entry into restricted zones, and alerts the control center first.
Results
No figures published
Takeaway
Hyundai E&C used AI to flag construction-site risks for its control center. It disclosed training on more than 2 million data items but no accident-reduction or accuracy figures.
