AI in frac operations: Sentinel sand-truck scheduling and FracPulse predictive maintenance
Liberty Energy's CEO said its Sentinel AI cut the sand trucks it needs by 30%
Problem
Hydraulic fracturing jobs depend on a steady flow of sand trucks and on equipment that does not fail mid-job. Scheduling roughly a million truck trips a year and spotting equipment problems early were hard to do by hand.
Approach
Liberty built two AI programs. Sentinel forecasts sand-truck demand and schedules every truck. FracPulse, used at Liberty's remote monitoring center, analyzes about 1 billion data points a day to anticipate maintenance problems.
Results
Takeaway
The 30% truck reduction is the CEO's claim as reported by Fortune, with no external check.
