Molslinjen
AI analytics toolbox for ferry pricing and capacity
Danish ferry operator earns 15-20 million DKK a year more and cuts fuel use 3% with AI
Problem
Molslinjen wanted dynamic pricing on more of its fleet and better demand forecasts for loading. Model tuning was manual and the forecast engines did not scale.
Approach
With the AI firm Halfspace, it built a toolbox on Azure Databricks to run pipelines and update pricing and demand models. A capacity module and Power BI on phones help staff load ferries; the project began on one route.
Results
Takeaway
Molslinjen began with one route and used pricing and demand models to help staff load ferries. Microsoft did not say how the earnings and fuel savings were measured.
