Parkview Health
IDx-DR autonomous diabetic eye screening
Parkview screened 326 patients for diabetic eye disease with autonomous AI in 2021
Problem
Patients often needed a separate specialist appointment for diabetic eye screening. Travel and additional visits created barriers for rural communities.
Approach
Parkview introduced Digital Diagnostics' IDx-DR at laboratory and endocrinology facilities. The system checked retinal images and produced diagnostic results without specialist interpretation. Patients with detected disease could then be referred for treatment.
Results
Takeaway
Screening moved into existing care visits. The reported screening volume did not establish a reduction in vision loss.
