VehicleTrack AI vehicle classification for toll collection

PLUS deployed AI toll classification with up to 99% accuracy, according to Tapway

WorkingVendor case study

Problem

Toll operators manually classified vehicles to assign charges, contributing to queues. Drivers could also exchange payment cards to seek lower tolls.

Approach

PLUS engaged Tapway in 2019 and deployed VehicleTrack on its highways. The computer-vision system recognised plates and vehicle classes to support multi-class toll payment. Matching plates with card identifiers helped detect inconsistent entry and exit records.

Results

up to 99%vehicle-classification accuracy claimed by Tapway, as reported by The StarVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

The published recognition figures described technical performance. PLUS did not disclose measured reductions in queues or toll fraud.
