PUB

Anomaly Leak Finder for water-network surveillance

PUB's AI leak finder narrowed pipeline searches to 1 kilometre or less, Bentley reported

Problem

Hidden underground leaks were difficult to locate. PUB still conducted costly manual network surveys despite having permanent monitoring sensors.

Approach

PUB and Bentley developed Anomaly Leak Finder using hydraulic models and AI. The system recalibrated its digital twin with monitoring data and detected unusual flows or pressures. PUB deployed it on Singapore's Government Commercial Cloud.

Results

1 kilometer or lesspipeline search distance per detected event, according to BentleyVendor case study[1]
2operational leaks detected since 2024 and verified by field crews, according to BentleyVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

Field crews checked the locations identified by the system. Bentley reported confirmed operational leaks alongside the historical benchmarking results.
