Sanepar
Fluid Móvel AI tool to flag probable water leaks
Sanepar rolled out an AI leak-detection tool from a startup to about 60 municipalities in Paraná
Problem
Sanepar, the Paraná state water utility, loses water through leaks in its connections and needs to find them faster.
Approach
Sanepar picked Fluid Móvel, made by Stattus4 Cidades Inteligentes, through its Sanepar Startups open-innovation programme, with technical support from Sanepar and Itaipu Parquetec. Field teams use a rod-equipped collector at each connection, and the AI flags likely leak points. A pilot ran in Curitiba neighbourhoods from January to August 2023. In October 2024 the work covered about 60 municipalities in the Campos Gerais and Centro-Sul regions, with all water connections to be checked.
Results
No published figures
Takeaway
Sanepar tested the tool in one city before extending it across regions. The state said the pilot reduced the loss index and investigation times but gave no numbers.
