Problem

Shell's Pennsylvania Chemicals construction site had congested equipment and simultaneous work at height. A small owner team needed broader visibility into hazards across the site.

Approach

Shell worked with Detect Technologies to apply T-Pulse computer vision to drone footage. Annotated images helped train the algorithms, and observations reached the site safety team through a dashboard. Staff reviewed findings and intervened, including installing barriers around an exposed opening.

Results

141useful safety observations during a 50-day pilot, according to ShellCompany's own claim[1]
24pilot observations classified as high or very high risk by the site safety teamCompany's own claim[1]

Takeaway

The pilot measured detected hazards and survey coverage. Shell described possible incident prevention without claiming a measured reduction in injuries.
