Problem

Staff manually checked documents across electronic systems to establish whether patients still needed treatment. Keeping the surgical waiting list accurate consumed substantial staff time.

Approach

UHNM introduced MBI ROVA to analyse clinical documents and flag patients who no longer needed treatment or required follow-up. Its digital services, information and validation teams implemented the system as a 12-month pilot.

Results

more than 1 millionclinical documents reviewed in the first week, according to UHNMCompany's own claim[1]
almost 1,500patients identified as eligible for waiting-list removal in the first week, according to UHNMCompany's own claim[1]

Takeaway

The initial result concerned identifying patients eligible for removal. UHNM did not report a measured reduction in surgical waiting times.
