Visma
GitHub Copilot for software development
Visma developers write new code up to 50% faster with GitHub Copilot
Problem
Building secure, reliable code for many domains is slow and labor-intensive. Developers also have to keep up with new technologies while writing, testing and debugging quickly.
Approach
Visma, an Oslo software group of 188 companies, adopted GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. Code is pushed from GitHub to Azure Pipelines, where automated checks look for errors and vulnerabilities. A hackathon after adoption got most of the workforce to try the tool.
Results
Takeaway
A hackathon right after rollout moved most staff to try the tool. Visma reported up to 50% faster coding but did not quantify gains in retention or revenue.
