TouchCare monitoring and Suni voice assistance for older residents
Yongin reported 35% fewer meals after 10 p.m. following an AI elderly-care pilot
Problem
Pandemic restrictions made in-person support difficult for older people living alone. The city wanted to monitor routines and provide reminders remotely.
Approach
Yongin ran TouchCare from July 2020 through June 2021 with 110 older residents from low-income households. Wearable bands and touch sensors detected activities, which the service analyzed before Suni AI speakers gave routine reminders. The city subsequently expanded the service and added notifications for relatives.
