AUTO1 Car Audit Technology (CAT) for AI damage detection on used cars
AUTO1 runs its in-house AI damage scanner in five of 12 Autohero production centres
Problem
Autohero refurbishes used cars at production centres in several countries. Staff had to find all relevant damage at the start of refurbishment and check the result after repair.
Approach
AUTO1 built AUTO1 Car Audit Technology in-house. Multiple cameras and integrated hardware scan each car, and AI finds damage such as dents and scratches. The images and analyses feed the group's digital refurbishment system. Teams use the scan at the start of refurbishment and again for quality control after repair. By December 2025 it ran in five of 12 production centres in Germany, Spain, France and Italy, with more centres planned for 2026.

Takeaway
The detection rate is AUTO1's own figure and the release gave no test method. The rollout is still partial, with seven centres not yet covered.
