Problem

CASSI reviewed medical procedure requests manually. Routine reviews occupied technical staff who also needed to handle complex cases.

Approach

CASSI developed AI models to reproduce medical authorization decisions and integrated them into its operational workflow. It used Azure Databricks, Data Factory and Data Lake to connect systems and supply the models with data. Business and technology divisions reviewed the process before it went live.

Results

about 10%share of medical authorizations automated without human intervention, per MicrosoftVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

CASSI automated a minority of authorizations without human intervention, freeing its technical team to concentrate on complex cases.
