Generative AI voicebot on the customer hotline

MediaMarktSaturn put a generative AI voicebot on its German customer hotline

In progressPress reporting

Problem

Hotline callers had to move through menus to reach an answer to common questions. Advisors handled many simple queries about products, delivery and returns.

Approach

MediaMarktSaturn built a generative AI voicebot with Parloa. It understands natural speech and answers from the company's FAQ database at any hour. If it cannot answer, or the caller wants personal advice, it passes the call to a customer advisor. It went live in Germany in September 2024. Tests started in Austria and the Netherlands, and Spain was planned for early 2025.

Takeaway

The retailer reported only early feedback from test markets, which mentioned time savings and ease of use. It gave no call volumes or containment rates.
