Hwashin
Welding AI inspection of internal and external weld defects
Hwashin validated Welding AI on its factory floor before signing a commercialization agreement
Problem
Automotive weld inspection needed to identify defects inside joints as well as on their surfaces. Surface images alone did not cover the full inspection task.
Approach
Hwashin and SK Telecom began cooperating on AI factory technology in 2020. Welding AI combined acoustic-emission sensor readings with machine-vision images and equipment data for deep-learning analysis. Hwashin's chief executive said factory use confirmed its effectiveness, and the partners signed a commercialization agreement in July 2022.

No published figures
Takeaway
Hwashin reported successful factory validation, but the partners disclosed no detection accuracy or reduction in defects. Automatic rewelding remained a development activity.
