Claude role-play interviews in LSE100 assessment
Around 300 LSE students chose Claude as an interdisciplinary interview partner
Problem
LSE100 required students to engage with perspectives from another discipline. Course leaders wanted to introduce optional AI use with structured support for critical AI literacy.
Approach
In Autumn Term 2025, course leaders offered Claude for the conversation component of an interdisciplinary commentary assessment. Claude role-played an interview partner from another discipline. Students could choose this pathway.
Results
Takeaway
Student uptake exceeded the course leaders' expectations. Uptake alone did not establish an improvement in learning.
