Problem

The retailer's catalog grew from 15,000 to 300,000 products after it opened a marketplace. Before, only furniture had written product sheets. The marketing budget stayed constant.

Approach

Maisons du Monde used generative AI to write and enrich product sheets with dimensions, materials and ambiance. It also used AI to predict promotions and prices, and image recognition to find visually similar products across its own range and its marketplace. The work was done with Google and Artefact, and the AI sprint lasted three months.

Results

100%share of spring-summer 2024 collection product sheets written with generative AI, in five languages, per GoogleVendor case study[1]
tripledproductivity of the copywriting team with generative AI, per GoogleVendor case study[1]
15,000 to 300,000products in the catalog after the marketplace launch, at a constant marketing budget, per GoogleVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

Generative AI let a fixed copywriting team cover a catalog twenty times larger. The article does not say how the sheets were checked for quality.
