Problem

Medgate is a telemedicine provider that connects 2.5 million patients with doctors in Switzerland and Germany. Its software has to change quickly and stay dependable under medical-device, privacy and security rules.

Approach

Medgate ran a three-month pilot with four teams and about 15 engineers, together with the consultancy OWT, a Swisscom company. Claude Code turned specifications into features, drafted implementation plans from Azure DevOps and Jira tickets, helped analysts write technical specifications and refactored tests. An AI-enhanced review ran on every pull request for privacy, medical-device regulation, security and code quality. After the pilot Medgate decided to roll out Claude Code and OWT's method across its engineering organization.

Takeaway

Medgate ran the pilot on a limited group and reported results by task. Review checks tied to medical-device and privacy rules were part of the setup.
