Problem

Metro's department managers had to translate changing demand into purchasing quantities while limiting spoilage and stockouts. Product preparation also required advance staffing decisions.

Approach

Metro worked with Moov AI on Cérès, a forecasting tool integrated with its existing systems. It predicted daily sales of perishable products 3 weeks ahead. Managers used the forecasts to support replenishment and plan work preparing fresh products.

Results

more than 5,000perishable products covered by daily demand forecasts, according to MetroCompany's own claim[1]

Takeaway

The same product forecasts supported purchasing and preparation staffing. Metro did not disclose measured reductions in waste or lost sales.
