Sanoma Learning
Sanna, a generative AI teacher assistant built on Sanoma textbooks
In a 1,500-teacher pilot, 88% said Sanoma Learning's AI assistant Sanna matched or beat their own work
Problem
More than half of teachers in Europe already use AI at work. Sanoma Learning wanted a tool that stays tied to its curriculum-aligned textbooks and shows its sources.
Approach
Sanoma Learning built Sanna on Amazon Bedrock with AWS. A prototype was ready six weeks after a March 2025 workshop, and teachers in four countries tested it. A scaled pilot ran with 1,500 teachers in seven countries in 2026. Teachers pick a book or chapter, or type a request. Sanna produces exercises, lesson plans, tests and differentiated material, and shows the textbook source for each output. It launched in selected markets on 1 October 2026.
Results
Takeaway
The pilot figures come from teacher surveys reported by AWS. Sanoma Learning tied each output to a textbook source so teachers could check it.
