Seocho District
AI flood-depth measurement and warning system
Seocho installed AI flood monitoring at 10 locations and activated it for the 2026 flood season
Problem
Extreme rainfall threatened low-lying parts of Seocho. Forecasts and visual observation did not provide continuous, quantitative flood-depth measurements.
Approach
Seocho completed installation in October 2025 and announced seasonal activation in May 2026. AI analyzed public CCTV footage, using standard-sized road objects to estimate water depth. Road warnings and laser barriers were designed to activate at a specified depth; river cameras measured water levels and flow.
Results
Takeaway
Existing CCTV supported quantitative flood monitoring linked to warnings. The district did not report measured reductions in flood damage or casualties.
