Problem

Under a revitalization plan announced in May 2024, Toshiba set a goal of an operating margin of 10% by March 2027 and looked for ways to raise work efficiency.

Approach

Toshiba ran a trial with 400 employees, of whom 95% used Copilot in actual work. It then deployed Copilot to about 10,000 people, raised from an initial target of 5,000. It used Microsoft 365 usage logs and Viva Insights to support adoption, built a use-case catalog, and charged licenses to the budgets of the departments that benefit.
