Problem

Antwerp wanted to test AI's value in administrative work while controlling how employees used municipal data. It limited the pilot to defined uses.

Approach

The city began a Microsoft 365 Copilot pilot in late 2024 with Microsoft and Wortell. Participants included 300 city employees and 50 Digipolis staff. They tested meeting summaries and email drafting, supported by training webinars.

Results

96 minutesaverage weekly time savings per city employee in the pilot, reported by WortellVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

The reported savings came from a restricted pilot. They did not establish the effect of a citywide rollout.
