Bahrain Islamic Bank
Al Murshid AI platform for Shari'a guidance
Bahrain Islamic Bank launched Al Murshid, an AI platform that answers questions on Islamic financial rulings from its Shari'a board's decisions
Problem
Guidance on Islamic financial rulings and contract structures normally comes from Shari'a scholars and printed or archived decisions, which limits how widely it can be reached.
Approach
BisB launched Al Murshid in November 2025 at the AAOIFI-IsDB conference in Manama. The platform gives instant AI-generated guidance. It draws on rulings of the bank's Shari'a Supervisory Board, AAOIFI standards and other approved references, including more than 2,000 fatwas and resolutions issued since 1979. The bank listed multilingual support, voice assistance, predictive analytics and open API access as planned upgrades.

Takeaway
The bank grounded the assistant in its own board's decisions and approved references. It reported no usage figures.
