AI parcel recognition and sorting at Daejeon Mega-Hub

Hanjin's Daejeon Mega-Hub automated parcel classification across 80 unloading lines

WorkingVendor case study

Problem

Parcels arrived in irregular shapes and sizes, including sacks and wrapped bundles. Workers had previously classified freight at unloading lines.

Approach

POSCO DX installed its image-recognition AI in Hanjin's Daejeon Mega-Hub. The system classified incoming freight by size across unloading lines. A separate vision singulator analyzed incoming parcels and arranged them in a single line for downstream sorting.

Results

80unloading lines with automated parcel classification, according to POSCO DXVendor case study[1]

Takeaway

The AI handled parcel recognition and alignment within a larger conveyor operation. POSCO DX did not quantify the labor saving attributable to AI.
