InsightGPT, a private generative AI instance for employees

Insight gave 13,000 employees a private GPT in 8 weeks and said it halved time on statements of work

Problem

Insight's employees spent time on routine work such as reading feedback surveys, sorting large datasets and drafting contract documents. The company also wanted hands-on experience with generative AI before advising clients.

Approach

Insight acted as its own first client. It deployed a private Azure OpenAI instance, called InsightGPT, so company data would not feed a public model. Access reached about 13,000 employees worldwide in 8 weeks, followed by training and guardrails. HR used it to analyze surveys, a sales team to sort data and a warehouse team to automate manual tasks.

Results

13,000employees given access worldwide within 8 weeks, per InsightCompany's own claim[1]
50%reduction in time and cost of creating statements of work, per InsightCompany's own claim[1]
more than 100 hourssaved by a sales team sorting large datasets, per InsightCompany's own claim[1]

Takeaway

Insight built the internal platform first and later offered it to clients, so its own staff were the test group.
