POSCO Holdings put Gemini news reporting and knowledge search into daily use by more than 500 employees
Problem
POSCO employees needed current global materials information for business and research decisions. Relevant knowledge was spread across multilingual news and accumulated documents.
Approach
POSCO Holdings' Applied AI Research team built automated materials-news reports and a natural-language knowledge-search service. It combined its own retrieval-augmented generation architecture with Gemini 1.5 Pro on Google Cloud. By August 2024, more than 500 employees across about 10 group affiliates used the system daily.
Results
Takeaway
Automated reports and question answering served different ways of accessing the same growing knowledge collection. Google Cloud reported answer accuracy without publishing the evaluation method.
