Digital twin and generative AI for high-traffic mobile sites on New Year's Eve
Ericsson said Chunghwa Telecom raised capacity at crowded New Year's Eve sites by nearly 14% with a digital twin and generative AI
Problem
Mobile traffic in Taiwan on New Year's Eve ran at four times the previous week's level, and crowds at sites such as Taipei 101 pushed data volumes sharply up. Fixed-rule alarm systems also produced redundant alerts.
Approach
Chunghwa Telecom used Ericsson Site Digital Twin, built from drone and 3D models of sites, together with generative AI to adjust high-traffic sites with little manual intervention. Ericsson's Smart AI Alert tuned alarm thresholds with AI models and automated troubleshooting.

Takeaway
The capacity figure comes from the supplier's release, not from Chunghwa Telecom.
