Network18
In-house agentic AI tool Answers and other AI tools in newsrooms
Network18 rolled out its own agentic AI tool Answers across newsrooms and used AI to write IPL match reports
Problem
Network18 had used AI across its brands for a few years, but the efforts were scattered and uncoordinated.
Approach
The company built its own agentic tool, Answers, and was deploying it across the network. Other in-house tools were at different stages: Narad for writing and editing, Agent Veda for video, Mona for personalisation and Bharat for multilingual content. During IPL coverage, AI generated match reports from live data. Nalin Mehta was named first Chief AI Officer for editorial, and nothing AI produces is published without human supervision.
Results
No published figures
Takeaway
Errors were part of the story. One AI agent confused the closing times of the Bombay and New York stock exchanges. Network18 kept human review in place.
