AI initial welfare consultations linked to household risk screening

SSIS said AI initial welfare consultations saved officials an average of 8 hours per month

Problem

Local welfare officials conducted initial telephone checks themselves. That work competed with detailed consultations and household visits.

Approach

A Saltlux-built initial-consultation system entered municipal pilots in July 2024 after development began in July 2023. SSIS subsequently linked predictive household screening with generative AI consultations. AI selected households for checks and summarized consultations for officials handling follow-up support.

Results

8 hoursaverage monthly work time saved per local welfare official, according to SSISCompany's own claim[1]

Takeaway

The time-saving claim concerned initial consultation and checking work. The longer-term increase in welfare support rates covered a broader program and cannot be assigned solely to this AI system.
