U-NEXT Holdings
Buddy, an in-house generative AI for all group employees
U-NEXT Holdings gave all USEN-NEXT GROUP employees an in-house GPT-4 assistant and expects it to save about 500,000 working hours a year
Problem
The group, with about 5,000 employees, wanted to raise productivity in everyday office work such as drafting, research and coding.
Approach
A new AI business reform support department built Buddy on GPT-4 through Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and ran it inside the company's closed network, so staff could enter internal information. It does not learn from user inputs. It came in web, chat and spreadsheet versions and handled Q&A, slide outlines, idea generation and code. It went to all group employees on 30 November 2023, with rules to verify answers and label AI-generated content.
Results
Takeaway
The company set out its use rules and security setup at launch. The savings figure was an assumption of 100 hours per employee, not a measurement.
