NTT DATA
Employee generative AI chat and internal knowledge search
NTT DATA employees reported about 30 minutes of weekly savings from its AI chat service
Problem
Employees needed help with routine writing and information searches. Internal manuals and rules were scattered across separate company sites.
Approach
NTT DATA began early use of its chat service in July 2023 and deployed it company-wide in October. It built the service with open-source applications and Microsoft Azure. Internal knowledge search followed in April 2024, combining retrieval-based generation with its LITRON crawler.
Results
Takeaway
The time-saving figure reflected employees' perceptions after the chat rollout. It did not establish measured savings from the later knowledge-search service.
