Watami
Voice bot for first-line phone calls at the Watami Takushoku meal delivery service
Watami's meal delivery service put a voice bot on first-line calls, with 94% accuracy on delivery-area checks, AI Shift says
Problem
Calls to the Watami Takushoku call center spiked after TV commercials, and the center often needed temporary staff. Calls in peak hours and outside business hours went unanswered, which risked lost orders.
Approach
Watami introduced AI Shift's AI Worker VoiceAgent to take calls first. The bot asks for the caller's postal code and checks delivery availability using the ZENRIN Maps API. If delivery is available, it collects name and phone number for a callback. Otherwise it directs the caller to another number. AI Shift announced the deployment on 6 April 2026.

Takeaway
The bot handles one narrow step, the delivery-area check, so the call center can answer overflow and after-hours calls. Watami plans to extend it to phone orders and FAQs.
