Microsoft 365 Copilot for administrative and Welsh-language work
Welsh Government Copilot users reported approximately 30 minutes saved per day during its trial
Problem
Staff spent time preparing drafts and extracting information from meetings and documents. Welsh-language work also involved drafting and translation.
Approach
The Welsh Government began trialling Copilot through an early-access programme in September 2023. It later participated in a cross-government trial that ended in December 2024. Staff used Copilot for meeting summaries and first drafts, and the government subsequently made it available through MyIT.

Takeaway
The reported saving came from users' estimates. It did not establish an equivalent reduction in staffing costs.
